Chemtest offers both fast and standard turnarounds to meet with clients' requirements and deadlines. The provision of sample containers and custody documentation, sample collection and reporting costs are included in the price of analysis. Sample collection is mostly provided utilising in-house drivers to ensure timely and safe sample delivery to the laboratory so that samples are received in optimum condition for analysis with traceability from the sample origin. Couriers are sometimes used when this is not practical.
Chemtest can provide bespoke reporting formats in several different media according to clients' specifications.
The laboratory is housed in modern, purpose-built and secure accommodation. The following instrumental techniques are employed:
Sample preparation
- Microwave assisted acid extraction
- Accelerated Solvent Extraction (ASE)
- Solid Phase Extraction (SPE)
Organics analysis
- Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)
- Gas Chromatography - Flame Ionisation Detection (GC-FID)
- Gas Chromatography - Electron Capture Detection (GC-ECD)
- Gas Chromatography - Photo Ionisation Detection (GC-PID)
- High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- Infra-red Spectroscopy (IR)
- Fluorescence Spectroscopy
- Headspace Sampling
- VPH/EPH (GC-PID-FID)
Inorganics analysis
- Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES)
- Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)
- Ion Chromatography (IC)
- Continuous Flow Colorimetric Analysis
- Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis)
The majority of these techniques is fully automated. Instrument breakdown is kept to a minimum through regular manufacturer Preventative Maintenance programs.
Chemtest participates in CONTEST, LEAP, AQUACHECK and AIMS inter-laboratory proficiency testing schemes to monitor its performance with respect to its own expectations and with respect to other laboratories.
It is the policy of Chemtest to supply and maintain a quality of service which is fully compliant with International Standard ISO/IEC 17025 and MCERTS at all times and for all tests undertaken for which UKAS and MCERTS accreditation is held. Work is accepted only once the clients' instructions have been fully understood and mutually agreed by way of a formalised contract review.
Chemtest also offers full analytical support and advice to its customers on any aspect of environmental chemistry and can provide a single point of contact or project co-ordinator to liaise and organise every aspect of its testing.
